  Academies (Schools)

Many families and educational institutions consider course accreditation important and take a dim view of those families who school their own children. In the event that your family situation changes and the student(s) transfer to another school or decide to attend some college or university that requires verification of classes completed, you might consider joining an academy (school).  These umbrella schools each have certain graduation requirements and standards.  They keep your transcripts if any are to be forwarded from previous schools, and are responsible for forwarding them to whomever may need them in the future. You may already have a school, want to start one, or be able to find another school willing to assume the responsibility of easily providing this for you, as the LFBC curriculum is currently accepted in 48 states.

Here are two academies we can recommend:

Once registered with an affiliate school of BaptistHomeSchool.org , a copy of records of course completion and grades achieved, are kept in the official, physical files at that academy (school). Should you ever need to transfer to another school or upon graduation and college entrance, a record of these transcripts should be requested by the school that the student is going to attend.

  Capitol City Baptist Academy

Credits: One Credit per subject per school year, (1/2 credit if one semester course).  We offer single-subject classes for credit but you must first check with your current or anticipated school of enrollment to make sure that our courses are acceptable at that institution of learning.  We also approve and check the courses and credits our enrolled students have received from other institutions of learning and reserve the right to make such determination on a per class basis. Academy students are required to meet the State of Michigan's requirements plus any additional courses dictated by your state of residence. A minimum of 24 credits is required.

Academy fees: $25.00 per credit per student. Book fees and Proctor fee arrangements.  Online teacher support is also available through this web site.

  • $25.00 per class administration fee to Capitol City Baptist Academy and $38.00 per book fee.

  • $38.00 per class per quarter web support and teacher help through Christian Teacher Support for Student Studies (CTSSS) if desired. The tuition fees are broken down to be paid quarterly at the beginning of each new quarter. All classes being taken by any student should end the quarter before advancing to the next quarter in any class.

  • Proctor fees to be arranged privately between family and quiz proctor (suggested $5.00 per testing session no matter how many quizzes taken at each session).

A part-time student would therefore pay $63.00 for each yearly credit plus be responsible for a qualified proctor for quizzes (suggested $5.00 per testing session). Arrangements for online web support and teacher help is to be arranged directly through Christian Teacher Support for Student Studies (CTSSS) at  $38.00 per class per quarter ($38.00 x 4q per class = $152.00).

Fees for full-time students (6 credits): would therefore annually total:

  • $150.00 Capitol City Baptist Academy  fee and $228.00 for books.

  • $38.00 per class per quarter web support and teacher help to Christian Teacher Support for Student Studies (CTSSS). $38.00 x 4q per class = $152.00.  $152.00 x six classes = $912.

  • Proctor fees to be arranged locally and privately between family and qualified quiz proctor. (suggested $5.00 per testing session)

Achievement testing: Any student interested in annual achievement testing is welcome to travel to the Capitol City Baptist School when testing is administered - based on our school calendar (April/May). Information on testing materials and instructions will be provided in advance of the testing dates.

Graduation - Upon completion of all prescribed curriculum, a student will be graduated from the Academy. Particulars concerning graduation will be described by a counselor when the time warrants. Students must complete at least one year (6 credits) with the Academy in order to be graduated.  Students are invited to participate in the commencement exercises of the Capitol City Baptist School in Lansing, Michigan, if they desire. Arrangements and fees will be worked out with the High School office.

When your student has completed all high school work through the Academy, he or she will be graduated with a college-bound diploma. To make this a reality, the Academy program consists of:

  • careful records keeping (for graduation transcript or transfer out of the program)

  • annual achievement testing

  • academic support (not a tutoring service, but will answer questions from parents about curriculum use.

Having a diploma from Landmark Christian Academy allows the Student the benefits of graduating from a Christian school while remaining at home.

Landmark Christian Academy uses Landmark's Freedom Baptist Curriculum as its sole curriculum provider. We believe only LFBC offers a curriculum that meets our academic standards and represents our doctrinal and church policy viewpoint. For that reason, no other curriculum may be substituted without special permission. Admissions - Students are accepted into the Academy based upon an evaluation by a counselor. It is the parents responsibility to request student records from prior schools or homeschool programs. Landmark Christian Academy cannot accept any student above the ninth grade who does not have credits transferred from a bona fide school or diploma-granting homeschool organization. While we support every parent's and student's right to homeschool (and to do so without oversight by an outside entity), our ministry cannot be placed in a posit8ioin of accepting or transferring credits earned in an unsupervised homeschool situation. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Preferred enrollment dates are July through September.

Testing: Diagnostic Testing will be performed only if the Academy counselor and parent are having difficulty finding proper placement for the student. If the situation requires a simple battery of testing will be performed. The results will be used along with other factors to determine placement in the curriculum. High school student records will be evaluated and a path toward graduation determined.

Annual achievement testing will be administered by the parent based on our school calendar (April/May). Testing materials and instructions will be provided in advance of the testing dates.

Graduation - Upon completion of all prescribed curriculum, a student will be graduated from the Academy. Particulars concerning graduation will be described by a counselor when the time warrants. Students must complete at least one year (6 credits) with the Academy in order to be graduated.  Students are invited to participate in the commencement exercises of the Landmark Christian High School in Haines City, Florida, if they desire. Arrangements and fees will be worked out with the High School office.

  Other Academies (Schools)

We invite other academy schools to participate in our program and also encourage other pastors and church groups to let us help you set up and run a school through us as another outreach ministry of your church.  This will allow you to be involved with the Christian education of your church families with a minimum of risk and expense.  Contact our office for more information.   Class sizes can be small and personalized.  Please allow us to meet with you or your group personally to let you learn more about our BaptistHomeSchool.org
